Colours In Fireworks
The Hindu festival of Diwali went by last month, getting along with it a great deal of pollution (click here to find out why pollution levels only rise in winters) and fireworks. Have you ever wondered what brings the colours in these fireworks?
The above photograph shows how the fireworks get their colours. Each of these salt's/ metal's powdered form is compressed and then put in whatever form it is needed.
The same way that table salt gets spoilt when you put water in it, these fireworks are also not meant to come in contact with water.
There have been mulitiple PILs (Public Interest Litigation) filed against fireworks in Delhi and it has sparked the invension of green fireworks. I will talk about them in a new blog.

For legal reasons I am writing the following lines:
Please do not play with flames without adult supervision and do not hold the powder directly above the flame. Use something that allows you to keep some distance from the flame as well as saves your hand from getting burnt .
Personally, I know adults who as scared of dangerous experiments with flames and cry when their hand gets burnt. So kid if you want to use a flame, please do so, but use some judgement and DO NOT BURN THE HOUSE DOWN as I don't want angry parents knocking on my door.
