Let's learn about...rocks

Hello readers,
Do you have any siblings? Because I do and as soon as he found out that I had a blog he wanted his article on it. Well, here it is (MOM YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO TELL HIM THAT BLOGGING IS NOT FOR A 9-YEAR-OLD😒)

How often do we think about nature around us? Do we ever give a thought to the soil, pebbles and rocks? Some beautiful rocks that we see by the streams and the mountains might have acquired their shape and texture after going through years of changes due to temperature and pressure. There are basically three types of rocks: Igneous, Metamorphic and Sedimentary which are constantly changing from one form to the other.

Igneous rocks are formed when rocks have been melted by magma and then cooled down. But Igneous rocks have many spores ( holes.) Why do they have holes? Well, take an example of soda. If I pour myself a nice glass of soda, you will see that there will be a thick layer of bubbles on the top. The same thing happens with magma, but before the fizz comes out, the magma ( now lava) freezes. Examples of Igneous rocks are Pumice and Basalt.

Metamorphic rocks are rocks that have been under lots of heat and pressure and have been changed over time. If you take a Granite ( Igneous rocks)  and apply a lot of heat and pressure, it will change to a Metamorphic rock named Gneiss. Take a Sedimentary rock, Shale, and with a lot of heat and pressure, it'll change to Slate. If you apply even more heat and pressure it'll change to another Metamorphic rock named Phyllite.

Sedimentary rocks are rocks that have multiple layers. Those layers have come from weathering ( breaking down of rocks) and eroding ( creation of rocks).

Thinking about it we wouldn't be there if they were no rocks. In the Earth's core there are quite a few layers of rocks and theoretically, if we are under them then we would be boiled to death. No kidding- not even your ashes would be about to escape that heat.

These Rocks Actually Exist...

1) Miracle Rock- Colorado
Both images were taken from GJHikes
It is a miracle seeing a rock balanced in such a manner and to surprise you scientists say it would be safe to go around even after 20 years.

2) Kejerang- Norway
This is a rock stuck between two mountains. This is a very beautiful place- more than that it is everyone dream to get a picture while standing on it.

3) Ko Tapu (James Bond Island)

While it is unknown how nature actually did this. These are amazing sites. Hope you enjoyed reading my blog.
