How do self-balancing scooter work?

I am sorry for not being able to write for about a month. Now I am back writing about how self-balancing scooters work. These people transporters are known as Segways but that is one of the brands that manufacture these vehicles. The generic name is 'hoverboard'.

There are two basic sensors at play here- one for orientation and one for pressure.

The same gyroscope technology that phones use to sense your orientation (how do phones sense your orientation) is also used in a hoverboard. Depending on the hoverboard's orientation, the hoverboard will move with speed to make sure that there is no weight imbalance and you don't tip forward. The orientation is taken with the perspective of the hoverboards resting position (the centre of the hoverboard will be perpendicular to the ground).

Along with the above, there are pressure sensors. So how much you tilt, that much the hoverboard races forward/backwards. And depending on the pressure, the hoverboard with stop, increase or decrease speed. This amazing machine will only turn on when you place your feet on the device.
In the photo, you can see the lines on the footrest. These lines are just the plastic covering of the pressure sensors. These sensors report back to a computer chip that gives the machine an idea about which direction the rider wants to head towards.

So now that you how it works, enjoy riding your hoverboard! Just be safe and ride with certain precautions.
